What do we do?

PAWS is dedicated to furthering Animal Welfare in Tanzania by directing resources to where they are needed most. We are passionate about education and advocacy for animals that do not have a voice - from improving the conditions of farm animals at sale yards, to running vaccination and spay & neuter clinics for stray dogs and cats. We also have longer-term goals to help the animals of Tanzania, and to invest in education - where we hope to inspire the next generation.

There are many challenges that we face, including access to veterinary drugs, poor existing animal welfare knowledge, and a lack of enforced animal welfare legislation.

How do we do it?

1.

Response: We provide practical assistance to animals in need through direct veterinary care, materials and resources, clinics, and vaccination days. Evarest and our volunteers on the ground in Arusha are dynamic and respond to needs as they arise - perhaps a rabies outbreak in a nearby village, or finding a community in need of education to care for their working donkeys. We are in the process of refurbishing our kennels so that we can also treat, rescue and re-home street dogs and cats.

Stay up to date with our events here, or follow us on facebook or instagram to see what we are up to.

2.

Prevention: We believe that education is key. By directing resources to educational projects, like after-school clubs and workshops, we are helping to introduce sustainable solutions to animal welfare issues. This helps us to address problems in the long term, so that less resources are needed on band-aid solutions. Through the education of young people particularly, we change attitudes and improve the lives of animals for generations to come.

3.

Innovation: We aspire to improve the lives of animals through innovation. We will be exploring innovative and inspiring projects that improve the human/animal bond, utilise latest technologies, and highlight the links between human and animal wellbeing and health. Watch this space!
